My Transformation

You can transform yourself if you put your mind to it, I did.

When I first started competing in Bodybuilding in 2006, I already had 3-4 years of gym experience under my belt. I thought I looked really good! I’d already made quite a transformation in terms of gaining muscle mass, and increasing strength.

For my first competition, I looked like this:

This was in November 2006. As I said, I thought I looked good. I’d only been to one bodybuilding show before and because I’d made such progress to even get to the above, I was thought I looked like girls I’d seen onstage. I didn’t like my bum, but I wasn’t horrified either. The next day I went onto a forum I used to visit. Someone posted this pic of me and wrote something like “Why do these girls get onstage? Look at her arse!” I was horrified. I had no idea that I looked that bad! For everyday life I looked like a girl with a nice, shapely Figure. For bodybuilding, I realised I looked decidedly below-average.

I spent a few days crying, then got my head back on. I wasn’t going to let some internet, arm-chair troll get to me! I then read some magazines and came across a lady called Karen Marillier. I sent her my pics and asked if she would help me. Understandably, she was a little reticent. She was a Professional bodybuilder and knew she’d have her work cut out. I begged and begged and eventually she gave in. To this day, I couldn’t recommend her highly enough, even though we don’t work together anymore. She taught me 95% of everything I know about bodybuilding and was so encouraging, even when I didn’t believe in myself sometimes.

To cut a long story short, fast-forward on 6 years and I now look like this:

Even though the pose is different, I’m sure you’ll agree that’s some difference. I’ve got a smaller waist now and a wider upper back to help with the illusion. I now have what is fondly referred to as a ‘Squatters bum’, which, whilst may not be what every woman aspires to, does make my butt look pretty good in jeans or hotpants and at least it’s not a flat pancake now. My thighs are shapely and I have a lot less bingo wing than an average female.

So if this is what I’ve managed to do, naturally, with a change in diet, a lot of training, and a lot of determination – then maybe I can help you achieve the same.

      What a lovely response Fi, thank you so much. The before pic is in the early stages of my MT journal, even more funny is my diet at that time too. I remember carbing up for that NABBA Show on chocolate cake the night before at my brother’s wedding (I kid you not!) Think I know a bit more than that now!

    Fabtastic! Lots of hard work, dedication and consistency right there.

    But a thousand curses on that horrible faceless cowardly forum person all those years ago. May their oats be infested with weevils and their fish oils go rancid!

      They weren’t faceless, I totally knew who they were! Do you know what, it was the best thing that ever happened to me, because I never would’ve known I could do any better. So even though there were lots of tears and ashamed-ness at the time, really they did me a favour 😉

    Hey, Just seen your page and yep you sure look good, I am a PT just got my GP referrals, I am going out to Sardinia near to Alghero, I have been a few times, I am possibly lookiing to live there and start up a sort of fitness holiday business, I am looking at a property 1000mtrs from the sea and 8 min from the airport and on the edge of a national parks area so be good for running, cycling and some bootcamp, wonder what you think and maybe be interested in joining me.
